Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 5 July 2019 – Construction services firm GDB Holdings Berhad (GDB, GDB控股有限公司, Bloomberg: GDB:MK, Reuters: GDBH.KL) marked the structure topping out of Menara Hap Seng 3 in Kuala Lumpur city centre 2 weeks ahead of schedule, continuing its track record of early delivery since inception.
GDB has been appointed by Hap Seng Land Development (Puchong) Sdn Bhd as the main contractor to build Menara Hap Seng 3, at the intersection of Jalan Sultan Ismail and Jalan P. Ramlee in Kuala Lumpur city centre. The 26-storey high-rise building in Kuala Lumpur city centre consists of 6-level basement, 5 levels of Retail and food and beverage (F&B) Podium, 20 floors of office space and 1 rooftop F&B outlet.
The entire scope of works with an awarded contract value of more than RM300 million encompassed the provision of earthworks, piling, substructure and superstructure work within a short construction period of 26 months.
In construction, the topping out represents the building’s structure reaching its highest point.
Mr. Cheah Ham Cheia (谢汉正), Managing Director of GDB Holdings Berhad said:
“Executing this project within a short timeframe was an aggressive benchmark for high-rise construction, and we are heartened that GDB completed the structure ahead of schedule, congruent with our track record thus far.
In addition to the extensive scope of services, this undertaking was carried out in a highly-challenging location. The project’s location in the city centre meant that we were required to adhere to stringent regulations on the timing of construction activities, maneuver within the tight space constraints, and consider the close proximity of surrounding buildings, amongst others.
With the topping out ceremony today, GDB is scheduled to complete the
project by the contractual completion date of 31 December 2019.”
